|
Nancy Huffman is a current 6th and 7th grade social studies teacher at Deer Park Junior High. She has been teaching for 28 years. She’s worked at Galena Park, MacArthur Elementary, and 18 years in Deer Park ISD including the schools Fairmont Elementary, Deep Water Elementary, and Deer Park Junior High. Nancy Huffman is always finding new ways to help out the school and the community. Both last year and this year she had a toy drive around Christmas and raised over 500 toys each time for the Deer Park Fire Department to distribute to families in the community. She has had parties for the custodians, a valentine party for the special ed kids throughout the district , collected supplies for an animal shelter, and helped with officer Santa in Pasadena. She has volunteered with Life Gift, has been involved with Wreaths Across America , and Honor Flight Houston. She also wrote a book called “The Misadventures of Taylor R. Bailey” about her daughter, Taylor. About 15 years ago Nancy Huffman had a kidney transplant, and now needs another. There are extensive medical expenses to get a kidney transplant, weekly doctor visits, and anti-rejection medication shots. Kidney transplants are only supposed to last about 10 years, but she had one about 15 years ago, and now needs another one. Her daughter, Taylor named the kidney she has now Raymond because “everyone loves Raymond!” Nancy Huffman does so much to help the school and the community, and now it’s our turn to help her.
